This IIED working paper examines links between climate change, migration and vulnerability to trafficking, with a focus on India. It discusses how worsening climate impacts and disasters can increase displacement and distress migration, and how displaced people can become more vulnerable to exploitation and trafficking. The paper connects these risks to climate resilience, social protection, climate governance, climate justice and climate finance, and considers policy responses for protecting vulnerable communities.
